These paper flowers are easy to make, inexpensive and very very pretty. Use them for wall or table decorations for a party or attach a stick for homemade long lasting flowers. You can also make them smaller of course and put them in a vase.
These directions will give you 3 big flowers measuring about 7″ (18cm) in diameter.
Ingredients
Directions
Cut the tissue paper into 8 pieces measuring 10" by 7" (25cm by 18cm). I usually make more than one, so I line 4 tissue papers on top of each other and cut all of them "in half" 3 times. Then take 8 of these cut pieces and place in a pile on top of each other.
Fold the paper length-wise in a fan fold and tie a rubber band or string in the middle
Spread the fan out
Gently pull the tissue papers upwards layer by layer. Be careful not to pull too hard as the tissue paper will tear. IF you tear a small piece (as my kids tend to do) it is not a big deal. You can usually hide it in the finished flower.
Continue pulling all the pieces up on one side. Then continue with the other side. Crumble the sides a little to make the flower round -otherwise it will look like two parts that aren't meeting in the middle
And you are done. Hope you enjoyed this post on paper flower making. See how we used them at a purple and yellow flower themed party here. As always, would love to hear from you. Please leave your comments below. :-)
